Metaphors for a Magical Life

Calm and Chaos

When you think you have it all figured out, the cucumbers are ready to sit in their brine and become pickles. But then the jar breaks.

Healing and feeling better don't always go as planned. Life rarely goes as planned. But when you expect the unexpected...there's usually another jar in the pantry to fill.

Mindfulness is a skill that can help us find calm when life hands us chaos...

Nature Finds a Way

If you look carefully next time you're outside, you might notice nature is constantly growing and changing. A flower in the crack of the sidewalk, or some moss on a metal gate, no matter what we build, nature fills in around it.

So, when we build our lives to look a certain way and nature has other plans, we need to be prepared for that uncertainty.

Are you the landscaper trying to fight the pesky dandelions, or the one who stops to smell the flowers? It's ok to be a little of both!

What matters is taking the time to notice...

Perfectly Imperfect

People seem to think therapy is about perfecting themselves, but what if it is actually about accepting and celebrating our imperfections?

We are trying to grow, but what if growing is about allowing ourselves to be who we are and getting better at being in balance with the world around us?

When a Monstera leaf grows, full of all its holes, we don't look at it and say, "That thing is missing something." We say, "Wow! Look how beautiful that plant is!"

It's time to celebrate who you are in all your perfectly imperfectness.

Reflection

Take a look around....

Can you see yourself reflected in the world around you?

Or can you see how the world around you is influencing who or how you are...?

We are constantly influencing and being influenced.

Think about a single drop of water on a pond...from a tear in your eye...it hits the water, ripples out, but then the ripple itself evokes a feeling of appreciation for beauty in you...
